Here is a link to the Libby Legal Defense Trust. Those of you who have been paying attention to the news (I don't necessarily disapprove of those who don't) of course know who Scooter Libby is and why he is on trial. I am providing this link because I found some of the names on the Advisory Committee list to be very interesting. Like, for instance, Bernard Lewis. And Francis Fukuyama. Hmm.
Note the picture of Libby with that tedious, hypocritic fashion plate, Hamid Karzai. Of course, that in itself tells us little about what is going on inside of Karzai's head at that moment. But it does give us a hint of who in the USA really values Karzai. Don't think that picture is an accident.
There's an endorsements page. It consists of comments from editorials from most of the usual suspects, as though it meant something. Why are they helping the prosecution that way? And I don't mean the literal prosecution.
So, if you've been following the American liberal blogosphere (which, again, I don't fault you if you don't!), it's terribly easy to hate Libby and see those connections. Still, it's another reminder of the intellectual incestuousness of the whole enterprise.
